Goals 2018: Education, Education, Education
Last week Hubby made a quick overnight trip to the boat to check to make sure all was well with her and that the predicted freezing temperatures would cause no harm. And now today the temperature is in the 50’s. Go figure! But this is the life of a boater. Prepare, be ready and be able to respond to the unexpected. After all challenges are only opportunities to “rise to the occasion!”
The Bridge has prepared a calendar of events for the upcoming year. Planning / providing social activities and educational courses to promote friendships and encourage the use of boating knowledge and skills learned.
Our first event will be our Change of Watch Valentine’s Dinner Party. Actually it is a re-confirming of our Watch. Thanks to our Bridge who have agreed to serve another year! And Valentine’s is an excellent time to show our appreciation to our significant others who support us in our commitment to and love of boating.
As I look over our planned calendar I can see a year filled with friendship, fun, and (you guessed it) challenges.
Fair winds and following seas!
Goals for 2017:
Provide: Education Promote: Fellowship Prosper: (increase membership)
It is hard to believe that we are entering the last quarter of 2017! It seems like just yesterday that we were enjoying the cookout and our record breaking auction at the Blackburns, cruising to Florence AL for the WC Handy Music Festival and sharing in the once in our lifetime Solar Eclipse event at the Land Between the Lakes, Grand Junction, KY. Our September 23rd raft-up on Pickwick Lake will bring our summer events to a close.
In October we will resume our 2nd Tuesday of the month dinner meetings, so mark your calendar for October 10th, 6:30 PM at the Butcher Shop. Our guest speaker, Lanny Oakes, will be talking on his vacation/trip to Cuba. A timely topic for those interested in visiting this island.
John White and I will be representing our squadron at the District 17 Fall Conference, Johnson City, TN and reporting back to you at the October meeting. We were given a heads up that there will be a lot of news/changes from the Annual Governors Meeting in Dallas.
Speaking of news and changes, check out the new tagline that will be used (more details at the October meeting). “WE ARE AMERICA’S BOATING CLUB”
Looking forward to seeing you all i October!
